TRAVEL ADVICE

You should get information before you travel so that vaccinations can be planned, ideally no later than:
• Holidays - at least 8 weeks before you travel
• Backpackers and working abroad - 3-6 months before you travel

Your practice or surgery will need to know:
• Departure and return dates
• Countries visiting
• Type of stay (holiday, backpack, occupational etc)
• Allergies
• Female patients - pregnant now or wanting to be
• Vaccines you have had previously

There is a charge for most vaccines and not all may be available so you may be referred to other practices or specialist travel clinics for some vaccines.

TRAVEL VACCINATIONS

For travel abroad with advance notice:
  • Call in to collect a Travel Vaccination form from the Practice. This should be returned at least two months before your departure date. This two month notice period ensures that we can process requests and book appointments in good time for vaccinations to take effect.
  • Once we receive the completed form the reception team will book you an appointment. The Nurse will check your vaccination record against the recommended vaccinations for the country to which you are travelling. The Nurse will clarify what, if any travel vaccinations are required.

If we do not have a suitable nurse’s appointment available within the required time frame, you should contact the following clinic for your travel vaccinations and advice. You can ask a receptionist to print out your vaccination history to take with you to the clinic.
