APPOINTMENTS

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
There are appointments available at various times such as mornings, lunchtimes and afternoons. We try hard to run to schedule but some problems require more time and occasionally you will have a wait due to the unexpected. You can make an appointment in a number of different ways.

We operate an ‘Advanced Access’ appointment system for our clinicians. The system is based upon meeting patient’s needs. Some patients need to see a clinician because they have a problem that they are concerned about. It may be a minor problem that they have had for a while that has now become concerning or a ‘Medical Emergency’ situation. These patients usually prefer to be seen today or quite soon.

Other patients need to pre-book their appointment because of other commitments (usually due to childcare or attendance at work), or just because they like to book in advance. Because of this 50% of our appointments can be pre-booked, the rest are available on the day and can be booked from 07:30 either at the desk or over the telephone.

When you make an appointment we will try and book you with a male or female clinician if you state your preference, but may not always be possible.

Please be aware that ALL appointments are 10 minutes long, if this isn’t long enough, please ask for a ‘double appointment’. The clinician may ask you to make another appointment if you attend with more than one problem and the time you have booked isn’t long enough.

TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS

Telephone appointments can be requested by contacting reception. You will need to give reception a telephone number you can be contacted on and you will be booked onto the appointment screen. The Clinician will then call you back for a consultation. The number will be withheld.

EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS

Urgent cases are seen later on in the morning. We advise patients call at 7:30 in the morning to make such an appointment. Please be prepared to wait if the practice is busy on the day.

MINOR INJURIES

Minor Injuries and Accidents can be often by dealt with by your GP.  By contacting the surgery, you could save yourself from a lengthy wait at A&E.  Attendances at A&E are now triaged and if the hospital feels it is a problem that could be dealt with by your GP or an Urgent Care Centre, you may be turned away.

CANCELLATIONS

If for any reason you are unable to keep your appointment or no longer need it, please let us know as soon as possible so that it can be reallocated. I f we are given less than an hours notice for any cancellations then your appointment will be marked as a did not attend unless we are able to use this appointment for someone else.
Appointments can be cancelled by phone or on-line through your Systmonline account.

Please remember that there may be a shortage of appointments and when you fail to attend or cancel your appointment, you have prevented someone else from being seen in your place. On average about 160 appointments are missed each month.

If you arrive 15 minutes late or more, the doctor/nurse will not see you.

For cancellations you can either telephone 0116 271 9042 or text 07385805641.
